Backstage Magic is one of our favorite annual events. At this year's edition, we're growing your brains with opera insights courtesy of Matthew Aucoin. We'll be featuring excerpts from his next season production of LA Opera's Eurydice. We'll kick things off with a light reception at 6pm in Stern Hall. The main event starts at 6:30pm.

This is a gift from LA Opera to the Opera League for our volunteerism and support of LA Opera. Attendance is free to all eager Leaguers. At Regular level membership and above, League members may bring one guest.

Matthew Aucoin, Artist in Residence

Matthew Aucoin (b. 1990) is an American composer, conductor, writer, and pianist. He is LA Opera's first ever Artist in Residence, a three-year appointment beginning in the 2016/17 season. This position, created for Mr. Aucoin, fuses his work as composer and conductor. Each season, Aucoin will conduct at LA Opera, including the Los Angeles premiere of a major 20th-century opera, Akhnaten, in 2016, as well as Verdi's Rigoletto and the West Coast premiere of his opera Crossing in 2018. He will additionally conduct the world premiere of his newest opera, Eurydice, commissioned by LA Opera.
