Gatherings
Gatherings are held in the Opera League Regions prior to the opening
performance of each Opera in the LA Opera season. Members of the Speaker's
Bureau give lectures to enhance the attendee's knowledge of the Opera and
prepare them for the performance. There is no charge to attend regional
gatherings. You will be asked, however, to bring a refreshment to share with
others.
The Gathering schedule is
posted in the Calendar.
Overtures
Before each Opera performance the League, with the generous assistance of
the Flora L. Thornton Foundation, sponsors a lecture by an authority covering
the Opera.
Master Classes
When a major Artist performing at LA Opera is available to teach, a Master
Class is scheduled. A Master Class has LA Opera Resident Artists perform for
the teacher, who then provides guidance on how the performance could be
improved
